The Journey for a Hatstand Green Beret (HGB)

Hatstand Green Beret is an innovative talent management programme which provides IT professionals a gateway into financial markets. Hands on experience, coupled with mentoring and bespoke training is all part of the programme.

Competency Based Interview

Individuals with 1-3 years of relevant technical work experience and a degree are shortlisted. The Interview is a rigorous selection process focusing on attitude, aptitude and technical ability.

Techincal Testing

All our applicants are technically tested via PreVisor an award winning global leader in providing online assessments. These assessments will be skill specific i.e. Java developer will be tested on his Java knowledge and so on.


HGB line managers will hold regular meetings / coffee catch-ups with every HGB to keep track of their performance and provide on-going HR support. This also presents the HGB with opportunity to talk about any development needs. A Performance appraisal is conducted every 6 months to gain feedback from both the client and HGB. This feedback will then be used to streamline your training and development.


As no two people or roles are the same, all training provided is bespoke. In addition, every Hatstand Green Beret takes an intensive “Introduction to Financial Markets” course which facilitates an understanding of what investment banks do, what securities are and how they work.

Further training is provided on an on-going basis and is determined by regular training needs analysis. Regular quarterly meetings held with your own personal account manager and our HR manager enables individuals to give feedback to Hatstand regarding current projects and any training needs. We also hold regular meetings with the client line managers to keep on track with each HGB’s performance.


Hatstand Green Beret Salaries are commensurate to market value. There is also pay rise at the end of first year and a completion bonus for finishing the programme.
